From diagnostic equipment to LASIK, contact lenses and even eyeglass lenses, the advances in vision care over the past few years is nothing short of stunning! At Spectrum Eyecare in Peachtree City, Dr. Henahan is thrilled to be practicing at a time when the advances in technology are truly breathtaking.
We never let technology come between us and and our patients however. We use them to enhance our ability to diagnose, communicate, and enhance our patient’s lives.
In the arena of diagnostic eye examination equipment, the biggest advances have been in the arena of digital imaging technologies. At Spectrum Eyecare, we use advanced digital imaging cameras to uncover conditions like glaucoma, diabetic eye disease and to diagnose glaucoma up to ten years earlier than was possible just a few years ago.
Glaucoma is a leading cause of vision loss and blindness. It is especially troubling that through most of the course of the disease that there are often NO symptoms to tell someone that they are losing vision due to glaucoma.
In fact, you can lose up to 90% of your vision before any obvious symptoms develop. By then, it is usually too late to preserve the remaining vision.
Dr. Henahan takes our responsibility to detect glaucoma very seriously. We have invested in the latest laser guided technology to evaluate your eyes and look for glaucoma at it’s earliest stages. The OCT from Zeiss is at the heart of our glaucoma detection testing. It allows us to evaluate patients at risk for glaucoma, and combined with other tests, can allow us to diagnose glaucoma up to ten years earlier. Earlier detection means less vision loss and a much better chance of retaining good vision for the rest of your life.
Macular Degeneration and Retinal Disease
Macular degeneration is the number one cause of irreversible vision loss in Americans over age 65. Diabetic eye disease is number two. Even when performing a careful exam, detection of these and other conditions is greatly enhanced by using retinal photography. We use a state of the art digital retinal camera that allows us to instantly show you the results. We take the time to show you our findings and explain them to help you fully understand your eye health situation and what you can do to preserve your vision for a lifetime.
At Spectrum Eyecare in Peachtree City, we invest continuously to ensure that the patient care we deliver is of the highest caliber. We take the time to be sure you understand the results of all this high technology so you can better care for yourself and your eyes.
